Background: Arlan was an outstanding high school basketball player who scored 1,116 points and remains Fleetwood’s all-time leader in rebounds. His senior year, Fleetwood won the Class C State Championship. He was an All-State honoree and a Second Team All-County selection. Arlan graduated from Kutztown State College and was a four-year starter. He was team MVP in 1959 and 1961. Arlan had a 35-year career at Pottsgrove High School, where he served as JV boys basketball coach for six years, varsity boys coach for five years and girls varsity coach for six years. He was a 2003 inductee into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Berks County Chapter, and 2012 inductee into the Fleetwood Sports HOF. Arlan passed away December, 2017.
