Background: Barry was a three-sport star at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (PASD) and went on to help the United States win a gold medal in the International Olympic Games for the Deaf in Helsinki, Finland in 1961. He scored more than 1,623 points in high school and won four scoring titles playing in the Reading summer leagues. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Berks County Chapter in 1987. Also inducted into the PASD Hall of Fame and the Maryland Sports Hall of Fame. Barry was not only a great basketball player, but he was a true gentleman and friend to all. He was an inspiration to everyone in the Berks County basketball community.
