Background: Bob played basketball at Reading High School. After high school, he played in the Reading Rec Leagues and was the leading scorer and named the outstanding player for Farmer’s Fairfield Dairy. He later played on the championship Croll & Keck teams. Bob was a PIAA basketball official for 45 years and refereed more than 5,000 games. Bob officiated two national tournaments, 10 Berks County title games, 45 District 3 games and a Pennsylvania Catholic Interscholastic Athletic Association (PCIAA) state final. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame (Berks County Chapter).
