Background: Carl was an outstanding high school player at Wernersville High School (Conrad Weiser). As a 6-7 center, he was the team’s leading scorer and rebounder. Carl attended the Lowell Tech Institute that later became University of Massachusetts Lowell. He was a four-year starter and he scored 1,513 points (13th all-time). He scored 44 points in two separate games. Carl still holds the school’s scoring records for season (29.0 PPG) and career averages (23.6 PPG). Carl played on the outstanding Robesonia and Lutz & Bitterman Rec teams. His teams won multiple championships and he won multiple scoring titles. Carl is member of the University of Massachusetts Lowell Sports Hall of Fame and the Conrad Weiser Sports Hall of Fame.
