Background: Don played three years on the Reading High varsity squad where he scored 853 career points and averaged 18.3 PPG his senior year. He was named Second Team All-State and was the second leading scorer in the tough Central Penn Conference. He twice scored 30 points in a game. The Harrisburg Patriot labeled him the best two-hand set shooter in Pennsylvania. Don led the Red Knights to two Central Penn titles and two District 3 titles. Don played professionally with the Reading Keys in the storied Eastern Basketball League in an era when there were only 8 NBA teams. Today, many of those players would have been in the NBA. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Berks County Chapter in 2001 and is also a member of the Reading High School Sports Hall of Fame.
