Edward ‘Ed’ Kuhn

College(s): Mount Saint Mary’s University

Background: Ed Kuhn started on the 1959 West Reading High School state championship team that went 27-1. He graduated from Mount St. Mary’s College and was inducted into the Mount’s Hall of Fame in 2007. Ed developed a pipeline of great Berks County players who received basketball scholarships to the Mount. Ed founded the West Reading Summer Basketball league in 1965 and the Sacramento, California Exchange in 1972. The league and the Exchange continue to thrive to the present day. Hundreds of men in Berks County are grateful for the playing opportunities afforded to them by Ed Kuhn. His name is synonymous with summer basketball. He received the ‘Sportsmanship Award’ from the Berks Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Berks County Chapter in 1983. He was honored by Albright College in 2006 for contributions to basketball. In April 2019 Ed was awarded the ‘Rabbi Alan Weitzman Award for Community Service’. He was inducted into the Berks County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
