Background: Jim scored 1,434 points at Kutztown High School while playing for Coach John Silan. He started all four years and scored a career high 43 points in a play-off game at Hershey. He was First Team All-County for three years and First Team Little All-State for two years. Jim played at the Naval Academy for two years and then attended Temple University where he played basketball for two years. At Temple, he played in 51 games, scored 275 points (5.39 PPG) and had 164 rebounds (3.22 RPG). He played on the 1969 N.I.T. Championship team which defeated Boston College 89-76 at Madison Square Garden. Jim was inducted into the Kutztown High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2001 and the Temple Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the 1969 N.I.T. Championship Team.
