Michael ‘Mike’ Schorn

High School: Central Catholic, Class of 1961

College(s): Mount Saint Mary’s University

Background: Mike was a two time All-Berks selection and 1,334 point scorer at Reading Central Catholic High School. He was MVP of the Philadelphia Suburban Catholic League in 1961 as well as Central’s Outstanding Athlete. He received All-State honorable mention in his junior and senior seasons. Mike was also a star at Mount St. Mary’s College where he played in three NCAA Division 2 postseason tournaments. He was also an outstanding baseball player in college. Mike later became a fine basketball official and worked the 1985 NCAA Division 2 national championship game. He officiated the 1988 and 1990 PIAA state championship games. He was named the Berks County Official of the Year 1975-77. Mike was inducted into the Central Catholic HOF in 2005 and into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Berks County Chapter in 1998. He has been the recipient of both the Bob Harbach Award and the George Zeppos Award for outstanding contributions as a Berks County Basketball Official.
