Background: Mike DePaul was a 1951 graduate of Reading Central Catholic High School where he was a two time All-State selection and a Catholic High School All-American third-team pick as a senior. He finished his career with a then school record 1,364 points. He set a single game record with 47 points as a junior and averaged 21.2 points as a senior as Central went 23-6. The Mike DePaul led Central teams won State Championships in 1950 and 1951. Mike was an outstanding three sport athlete at Albright College where he played football, basketball and golf. In basketball, he was Albright’s leading scorer for two years and scored 1,452 points. Mike was inducted into the Albright College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992. He was inducted into the Berks County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1982.
