Background: Mitzi was the fourth female player in Berks County history to surpass 1,000 career points when she scored 1,261 points at Oley Valley High School. She was a two-time All-Berks selection. She was also the first player in West Chester University Women’s Basketball history to amass over 1,000 career points. Her 1,454 points places her third on West Chester’s All-time scoring list. On February 20, 1982 she scored 42 points in a 97-77 victory over Towson State, a mark that still stands as the highest single game point total in WCU’s Women’s Basketball history. In 1982, she was selected AIAW All-American. She was inducted into West Chester’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. She coached high school basketball at Oley Valley but her greatest coaching achievements came at Schuylkill Valley where she went 164 and 61. Her SV team won the Berks County Championship in 2005. She was named Berks County Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2005.
