Background: Pat played on four Berks Conference Championship teams during his storied Reading High School career. During his final three seasons, his teams went 89-9 and won District 3 titles in 1981 and 1983 under Coach Rick Binder. He was named First Team All-Berks as a junior and senior. As a senior, he won the Jack Flowers Outstanding Boys Basketball Player Award, the Dr. Richard Kleppinger Award as the top senior male player in Berks County, and the Reading High Outstanding Athlete Award. He played four years at Kutztown University where he was the sixth man on the 1987-1988 team that won 21 games while winning the PSAC East championship. They were the first Kutztown team in history to qualify for the NCAA Division 2 tournament. He was inducted into the Berks County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.
