Background: Rick played varsity basketball at Governor Mifflin for three years and was the team captain his senior year. He taught at Mifflin for 35 years and served as the assistant boy’s basketball coach for seven years. In 1983 Rick began a 29 year career as the girl’s basketball coach at his alma mater. He won 473 games, seven Berks County Championships and a District 3 Championship in1993. He led his teams to two PIAA Elite 8’s and a PIAA Final Four in 2013. He won multiple Berks County Coach of the Year awards. Rick is widely recognized as a major influence on the growth of girls basketball in Berks County as the president of the Berks Girls Basketball Coaches Association. He was an outstanding golfer in college at IUP. He was inducted into the Berks County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.
