Robert ‘Bob’ Ruoff

Deceased: July 2015

Background: Bob was an outstanding high school player who led the Reading Red Knights to a Central Penn title in 1947. He was a two year starter at Albright and was the captain and MVP his senior year. He was a ’13th Street Kid’ who went to grade school, junior high and high school on that famous street. He was a Major in the Marine Corps where he won a championship at Camp Lejeune. Bob also played semi-pro basketball for Reading’s Kissinger’s Travel Agency. He was the head basketball coach at Lower Merion High School (1953-58). Bob was inducted into the Albright Sports Hall of Fame in 1999 and the PA Sports Hall of Fame Berks County Chapter in 2001. Bob served as the Executive Secretary of the PIAA District I for 21 years.
