Background: Pete averaged 12.76 PPG his senior year at Reading High in 1977 on a team that went 27-6 while winning the District 3 title over Steelton High in one of the most memorable games in Berks County history. Pete’s 12 footer with 2 seconds left in triple overtime gave the Red Knights the crown in front of a standing room only crowd in the Hershey Park Arena. Reading advanced to the Eastern Finals and finished third in the state with their win over Norwin. Pete was a four year starter at Division 1 University of Delaware where he scored 1,085 points with career averages of 10.43 PPG and 5.73 RPG. At Delaware, Pete played against some of the best college teams in the country. His greatest game was against future #1 draft pick and future Hall of Famer Ralph Sampson and his storied University of Virginia team. In that game, Pete scored 17 points in the first half against the lanky 7 foot 4 inch Sampson. Pete is one of only a few Berks County natives who were ever drafted into the NBA when in 1981 he was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers (10th round/172 pick).
