Background: Margaret (Peggy) Dugan is known as the first great Holy Name High School player who scored 1,061 points as a four year starter. She was named MVP of the Philadelphia Suburban Catholic League in 1975 and 1976. In 1976 Peggy averaged 22 points per game as she led Holy Name to the Berks semifinals, District AA final, and State quarter finals. She attained All-County honors and was named Holy Name’s Most Outstanding Senior Athlete. Peggy is a member of the Holy Name Athletic Hall of Fame. She earned a Division 1 basketball scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh and played for the Panthers from 1976-1980. She was an assistant basketball coach at the University of Connecticut from 1980-1985. Peggy lost her battle with cancer in July, 2016.
