Background: Brian scored 1,359 points at Reading High School. He is considered by many to be one of Reading’s best centers in history and remains fifth on their All-Time Scoring list. Brian was recruited to North Carolina State by the late Coach Jim Valvano and received a full Division 1 basketball scholarship. He is the second Berks County player to play at N.C. State, joining Kutztown’s Dick Braucher. Brian was a member of the 1987 Wolfpack team that won the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship. He played 25 games his sophomore year, 28 games his junior year, and 30 games his senior year when he started and averaged 6.8 PPG and 5.5 RPG. He had several NBA tryouts but his professional playing career was cut short due to a car accident that left him with a spinal cord injury.
