Background: Wil coached the Albright College men’s basketball team for 25 years and had a record of 414-345. His teams won five MAC titles and advanced to eight NCAA tournaments. His 1980 team advanced to the Division III quarterfinals. He was named the NCAA District II College Division Coach of the Year in 1972. He won the Schoenfeld Sportsmanship Award 18 times in his career. He was the first non-Division I coach to serve as President of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and served on the Board of Directors of the Amateur Basketball Association of the USA. Wil also served on the Board of Directors of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as well as the Board of Directors for the Basketball Hall of Fame. He was the Eastern Region Chairman of the Olympic Basketball Selection Committee that selected the 1976 gold medal winning team. He served on and chaired many committees of the NCAA and NABC. Wil passed away at the age of 91 in April of 2014. He was inducted into the Berks County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1980.
