Background: Ron was named All-State in 1950 and 1951 after leading the Kutztown Cougars to back to back Pennsylvania Class B state titles while playing for Coach John Silan. He was the recipient of the first basketball scholarship at Penn State University. While at Penn State, he started on three teams that made NCAA Tournament appearances. Ron played one season with the Reading Keys in the Eastern Professional Basketball League. He was the head basketball coach at Greenwood High School for 11 years. Ron is generally recognized as one of the greatest players in Kutztown High School history where he is a member of their Hall of Fame. Ron was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Berks County Chapter in 1986.
