Background: Diane’s basketball success started early as she played on the St. Catherine Kats CYO team in 8th grade that advanced to the State Championship game. Diane was the first Berks County girl to score 1,000 points. She led Reading Central Catholic Cardinalettes’s team to a pair of Philadelphia Suburban Catholic League titles. She was the top scorer in Berks County in 1962 when she averaged 25.2 PPG. Diane finished her career with 1,372 points, a Berks record that stood for 18 seasons. Her father is Danny Trout, an accomplished player in his own right, who was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Berks County Chapter in 2002.
