Background: Joe was an outstanding high school player who scored 1,304 points. He was a two-time All-Berks County selection. During his tenure, Central Catholic won the Berks County championship, two District III championships and appeared in a State Final. Joe was named the “Pennsylvania Small School Player of the Year” (1996). He received the Dr. Richard Kleppinger and the Jack Flowers Awards as the county’s top senior player. He attended Drexel University on a basketball scholarship. He was named “Rookie of the Year” and was a three-time All-Conference selection. He played in 111 games and had career averages of 16.4 PPG and 7.3 RPG. At graduation Joe was Drexel’s 4th all time leading scorer with 1,840 points. Joe was a coaching assistant at Central Catholic, Exeter, Fleetwood, Alvernia University, head boys coach at Fleetwood HS for 3 years, and is coaching the Berks Catholic Junior High Girls team.
